SD Week of Work 2024 - Ms. Amundson
The South Dakota Week of Work is already next week, April 8-12. SD Week of Work is a time to engage in, promote, and celebrate work-based learning in South Dakota schools. It’s an opportunity for students to explore and learn about various career opportunities. My classroom guidance lessons will be focused on career development and exploration in the next few weeks with the elementary and middle school students. In addition to this, I would like to invite parents of middle school students to come and talk to your children's class about your job or career! This would take place during my scheduled guidance class time with the middle school students at the following days/times next week:
6th Grade: Thursday, April 11th at 1:12-1:50 PM
7th Grade: Thursday, April 11th at 8:56-9:35 AM
8th Grade: Wednesday, April 10th at 9:40-10:20 AM
If you would like to come and tell your children's class about your career and the time slot works for you, please email me at Logan.Amundson@k12.sd.us or call me at 605-495-4183. It does not have to be anything formal; you would just be coming to talk to your child's class about your career (e.g., education needed, experience needed, job description, pros, cons, etc.). You can bring an activity that goes along with your job/career for students if you would like, but you do not have to.
We hope to have parent/guardian engagement during this year's Week of Work! Thank you in advance.
Congratulations to Miss Amundson on receiving the Rising Star Award through the SDSCA. This award is recognized of a school counselor who is a newcomer to the profession, who has entered the field within the last five years, is a model for new counselors, has made outstanding contributions to the school community and profession, has demonstrated excellent rapport with students, parents and school personnel, and is a current member of the SDSCA with a master's degree and is certified by the state of SC. Miss A is the shining light in our building every day and we are proud to call her our school councilor.

In conclusion to Read Across America Week the students have invited a guest to have breakfast with, and the school is buzzing! As Read Across America Week comes to a close, the collective celebration of literature and the joy of reading leaves an indelible mark on communities and schools across the nation.
